Font Losse

Old farm properties in the Périgord have names instead of addresses. Our property is called Font Losse, was built in the 18th century by the owners of the Lusignac castle, extended in 1815 and at the end of the 19th century the separate barn was added.

Together with local craftsmen we renovated and refurbished the farmhouse from top to bottom, taking great pains to retain the style and character of the original property and using only local materials and traditional construction styles: local rough-hewn stone, limestone, clay tiles, lime plaster, single-glazed bar windows, wooden doors and oak beams. Whereas the exterior has scarcely been touched, the interior is equipped with all modern comforts: hot water, gas central heating, a washing machine and tumble dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric oven with grill and gas hobs, extractor fan, satellite TV, stereo/CD player, telephone and wireless broadband internet.

Within its 215 m2 .the house sleeps up to eight plus baby. The ground floor comprises the spacious lounge (65m2) with an open log fire, a large kitchen (33m2) with a long dining table for 12 in front of an enormous ancient fireplace, a guest WC and a bedroom (27m2) with an open fire and en suite bathroom with a bath, shower, two washbasins and a WC.

On the first floor with its wooden floors and half-timbered walls there is a spacious, light and airy double room with en suite bathroom with a bathtub and WC, a romantic attic room with a single bed, another rustic bedroom with three single beds and a cot, as well as a bathroom with shower and WC.

Font Losse is surrounded by two large, partially covered terraces, one sheltered terrace facing south-east where the morning sun shines and one (100m2) facing south-west with a barbecue area and lily pond, overlooking a breath-taking panorama of hills and valleys. The house with its wine and rose creepers is situated in grounds of 6,000 m2amidst an orchard of apple, plum, cherry, walnut and fig trees, brambles and lavender bushes.

Sheltered from the wind and well-hidden lies the 14×5 metre long swimming pool, surrounded by palm trees and bamboo and a 200m2 partially covered sun terrace. It is fitted with an alarm, has an outdoor shower, a water-spouting diving board and a Caribbean-style pool house with its own WC and a kitchenette with a sink and fridge. In the basement of the pool house there is an original Finnish sauna made of solid Scandinavian timber, a shower and changing room.

The Dépendance Font Losse

The Dépendance is the conversion of the former sheds and grain stores situated on the ground floor of the detached barn. It is a separate two-roomed apartment (45m2), sleeps two to three and has its own small patio. The living room (25m2) has a Franklin fireplace and a kitchenette, the bedroom (12m2) a double bed. The spacious bathroom has a large bathtub, washbasin and WC.

The Dépendance is equipped with its own gas-fired central heating, hot water, washing machine, two electric hobs, mini-oven with grill, refrigerator, TV, stereo/CD player, telephone and wireless broadband internet.

Font Losse together with the Dépendance accommodates up to ten people and is the ideal place for families wanting to spend a vacation together. The Dépendance cannot be rented separately, only together with the farmhouse Font Losse.
